Aims of the Journal
The primary aim of the Journal of Sports Dentistry is to promote excellence in research and clinical practice in the emerging field of sports dentistry. The journal seeks to publish original research, systematic reviews, clinical trials, and case reports that contribute to improving oral health care for athletes at all levels. It also aims to foster global dialogue among dental professionals, sports physicians, physiotherapists, and allied health practitioners, while supporting the development of preventive strategies, injury management protocols, and policies related to sports-related oral health.
Scope of the Journal
The Journal of Sports Dentistry covers a broad range of topics including, but not limited to: dental trauma and injury prevention in sports; mouthguard design and effectiveness; oral-systemic health relationships in athletes; sports nutrition and its impact on oral health; epidemiology of oral injuries in sports; management of orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders in athletes; dental considerations in high-performance and contact sports; and emerging technologies in sports-related dental care. The journal welcomes contributions from clinical, experimental, and translational research, as well as interdisciplinary studies that integrate dentistry with sports science and medicine.
